General Questions

Gold Star Jewelry & Pawn is a long-standing member of the Pawnbrokers Association and is GIA certified.

How does a pawn work?

A “Pawn” is a cash loan that is given in exchange for collateral, like jewelry or other items of value, such as a TV Set. It is a simple and fast way of getting money without having to sell your property, which you can recover once the loan is repaid.

How much money can I take out on a loan?

There is no limit! We can loan any amount, depending on the value of the item or items that are put up for collateral. Gold Star Jewelry & Pawn can help you configure a loan for your needs. Over the years, we have helped hundreds of thousands of customers, including small business owners; solve their short-term needs for financing.

Can I have multiple loans with you?

Yes, each loan is a separate transaction, involving different collateral, so you can take out more than one with us, depending on your own needs.

How many loans are repaid at Gold Star Jewelry & Pawn?

A large number of people pay for their loans on time and recover their pawned items. Over 80% of loans are repaid. Gold Star will work with you to make every effort to ensure you can recover the items you pawned. Our associates will even call or text you to remind you to make any due payments.

How much money can I get for each item I pawn?

Our team of experts will evaluate your items and determine an accurate loan value.

What happens if I do not comply with the terms of the loan?

Loans have a 60-day term. In order to remain active, loans may be extended every 30 days. If payments are not received during or on the 60th day, the loan will become the property of Gold Star Jewelry & Pawn.

Lost Property Questions

Lost and Stolen Cards 2018Can I look around your showroom and see if someone brought you something that was lost?

Of course, you’re welcome to look around our showroom, but everything out for sale in our store has been held at least 30 days before being merchandised. So, if your property was lost within the last 30 days, you won’t find it in our showroom. The items sold to us are held for 30 days to provide you ample opportunity to recover your property up to 30 days after it was lost by contacting Law Enforcement.

Can you tell me if someone sold you something that was lost?

We are not able to tell you whether or not something was brought to us, nor are we able to tell you whether or not someone brought something to us, due to both legal and moral privacy concerns.

Can I tell you what was lost, or who might have sold it to you, so that I, or Law Enforcement, can know whether or not you have it?

First of all, bear in mind that information about all items that we take in is provided to Law Enforcement on a daily basis. They know everything about what we’ve taken in and who brought it to us. So, asking us whether or not we have what you’re missing is unnecessary. Also, telling an employee about what was lost just to find out if we already have it, will probably be fruitless. That single employee doesn’t work every day, and doesn’t know, or remember, all who come into the store, or every item that has been brought to our store.

Can I tell you what was lost, or who might have stolen it, so that you can help watch out for it?

Yes! There is a chance that your lost property might be brought to us and we will turn it down. Since Law Enforcement only knows what items we take in, there is no chance that Law Enforcement would catch the person if we didn’t buy the item. So, we can help Law Enforcement look out for your lost property, if you provide us with the appropriate information.

The only way that we can help you is if you file a police report, saying that your property was either stolen or lost. When you do so, you are welcome to also provide us with the information of what was stolen or lost:

  • We’ll need as much information as you can provide us about what was stolen, including the brand, model number, serial number, color, and accessories.
  • Also, just as important, we’ll need pictures of the items so that we can picture what we’re looking for. If you don’t have a picture of the actual item, we’ll need a picture of something similar, maybe printing it from Google Images. Although this isn’t required, this will greatly help us identify your property!
  • We’ll also need the Law Enforcement Officer’s case number and contact information.

We’ll be happy to use the information you provide us to keep a look out for up to 30 days. If we see something matching the description of the items that were stolen, we’ll need to contact the LEO, not the victim.

Where else could my lost property be sold?

You might want to check other stores to see if your property is there, as well. This includes places like: flea markets, gold and silver jewelry buyers, gun shows, used sporting goods stores, second hand stores, and collectible/consignment/antique shops.
